Garrotxa County is the lowest of all the mountain counties, lying mostly at altitudes under 600m. Two completely different types of landscape are found here. From the River Fluvià Valley to the north of the county, the relief is steep and rugged with many canyons and escarpments. In the centre of the county, the 40-odd volcanoes and the lava-flows make for a gently rounded landscape that is unique in Europe. The county capital is Olot.
The whole territory offers exceptional rural tourism and, of course, the famous “volcanic cuisine”.
