Pallars Sobirà County is located in the heart of the Pyrenees, with Sort as its capital. The north of the county is surrounded by peaks of almost 3000 metres, and drained by the River Noguera Pallaresa. The county’s rich natural heritage is enhanced by Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, the only one of its kind in Catalonia, and Alt Pirineu Natural Park.

Certascan Lake, the largest in the Pyrenees, and Pica d’Estats, the highest peak in Catalonia, are both located in this county. Pallars Sobirà offers a wide range of active tourism options. Considered the nerve centre of adventure sports, it was the first place in Spain to introduce white-water rafting.
