Garrotxa Volcanic Area Natural Park

The 15,000 hectares are covered in exuberant vegetation, with a notable presence of beech, oak, and holm-oak woods.

Most of the 28 walking itineraries in the park are clearly signposted. Experienced walkers will have no trouble following the longer, unmarked itineraries with the help of the park map. The Natural Park itineraries often join up with the Itinerànnia trails, providing access to any point of Garrotxa, Ripollès and Alt Empordà Counties located along the Itinerànnia network.

The most protected areas of this natural space, i.e. Croscat volcano and the beech wood known as Fageda d’en Jordà, are located within the volcanic area. The most popular activities are the walking itineraries, and the tourist train and horse-and-wagon trips around the park.
