La Festa Major de Solsona és una de les més antigues i amb més tradició de totes les festes majors que actualment se celebren arreu de Catalunya. Declarada Festa Patrimonial d’Interès Nacional, se celebra en honor a la Mare de Déu del Claustre.

Des de 1653 que els gegants, els nans, els cavallets, l’àliga i el drac surten a lluir les seves gales per aquestes dates.

This event is listed as a Festival of National Tourist Interest (1978) for its outstanding originality and typical carnival events, such as “mad giants” dancing to the beat of the carnival anthem, the figure of an ass hanging from the bell tower, a mock “sermon”, soapbox races, a fun market, and any number of local practical jokes.

The carnival is now a nine-day festival with over 40 events catering for all ages and tastes, ranging from a popular feast with pork dishes in pride of place to a children’s fancy dress competition with over three hundred participants.
