THE PECULIARITY OF THE RAILWAY LINE FROM SANT FELIU DE GUÍXOLS
TO GIRONA IS THE GENTLENESS OF ITS SLOPES AND TURNS. Its path is formed by a sinuous line mathematically sketched across the territory. The trail’s sandy granite paving material blends in well with the terrains it crosses, although there are also urban segments in all the towns it passes through.
Leaving Girona, the route first crosses the depression of La Selva, DISTINGUISHED BY A MOSAIC LANDSCAPE WITH ALTERNATING CROPLANDS AND FORESTS WHERE, ON THE CLEAREST DAYS, WE CAN ENJOY AN EXTRAORDINARY PANORAMIC VIEW which stretches from the easternmost spurs of the Pyrenees to Montseny, passing the hilly reliefs of the Catalan Transversal Range (El Far, Sant Roc and Rocacorba).
At the height of Cassà de Selva it joins the Termal Route, a greenway to Caldes de Malavella. The trail’s second half unfolds through the valley of Ridaura, which separates the massif of Cadiretes, to the south, from the massif of Les Gavarres and which, with a gentle slope, helps us arrive at the sea right in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, the city where the “Costa Brava” toponym was coined and a spot to see magnificent views.
