This Pre-Pyrenean county is located in the centre of Catalonia, with Solsona as its capital. The landscapes are outstanding, with rolling crop fields in the south contrasting with the large forests and rugged areas in the north. Mountain ranges include Turp, Odèn, Port del Comte, Els Bastets, and Busa, the source of the Rivers Cardener and Ribera Salada.
The proliferation of farmhouses dating from the 15th to the 18th centuries is one of the characteristic features of the county. The area has something for everybody, ranging from practising sport, exploring Neolithic monuments, and discovering interesting examples of Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, and Modernista architecture.
