All set for this year’s winter season

THE 2025-2026 SKI SEASON IN THE SKI RESORTS OF THE CATALAN PYRENEES

This winter, the six mountain resorts managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) begin the season with a strong commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. FGC Turisme is focusing on innovative improvements and experiences that align with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Coming soon, we’ll have all the details.

LA MOLINA

This season, La Molina celebrates the completion of the second phase of renovations at the Niu de l’Àliga, located at 2,537 metres above sea level. This emblematic spot will offer visitors a more comfortable and modern experience from this winter onwards.

The mountain refuge now features a new outdoor terrace that connects directly from the Cadí-Moixeró cable car to the restaurant, making access easier for people with reduced mobility. It also includes a bright, fully integrated glasshouse designed to create a seamless transition between the cable car and the main building.

Inside, the bathrooms have been refurbished, the technical areas expanded, and an accessible room added. The completely renovated lower floor now offers greater capacity and a more comfortable stay.

The goal of this transformation is not only to modernise the refuge, but also to consolidate it as a benchmark for sustainable tourism in the Pyrenees. Its unique location makes it an inclusive space for everyone — from experienced skiers and hikers to families and casual visitors who wish to enjoy the views and tranquillity of the high mountains.

Other updates

La Molina introduces several new features this season aimed at improving user experience and the efficiency of its facilities. Highlights include the optimisation of the snow production system, upgrades to the Pedró slope for club training, and improvements to the Coll Sisè sledging area. The resort has also reinforced snow quality and safety with new snow fences and replanting initiatives.

Additionally, new Premium lockers with access from La Placeta have been added to enhance visitor convenience, and new promotional ski passes for 6 and 10 days are now available for greater flexibility. Seasonal passes will remain on sale until 8 December, maintaining the same prices as in previous seasons.

VALL DE NÚRIA

This season, Vall de Núria unveils a new viewpoint by the lake, offering a privileged space to admire the snow-covered mountains and enjoy a unique panoramic view of the valley. The viewpoint is accessible only to skiers and those exploring the new exclusive snowshoe trail, which invites visitors to experience the winter landscape through the silence and serenity that define this exceptional setting. The new observation point has been designed using materials that blend harmoniously with the natural surroundings.

True to its commitment to sustainability, the resort completes this year the “Gasoil 0 – Ecovall” project, a decisive step in its strategy to completely eliminate the use of fossil fuels. By replacing diesel with cleaner and more efficient energy sources, the resort becomes a pioneer in high-mountain sustainability, leading the transition towards a greener energy model.

Located in the heart of the Parc Natural de les Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser and accessible only via the Cremallera de Núria or on foot, the valley reaffirms its status as a protected, car-free natural environment. The completion of this project not only reduces emissions but also strengthens Núria’s position as a model of responsible natural resource management and a benchmark for sustainable tourism in the Pyrenees.

More family activities

The resort expands its range of Christmas activities for families, installs a new 360º panoramic webcam, and upgrades the Parc Lúdic with more play and leisure areas. The Restaurant Racó de la Vall now features a new menu based on local products, and a new communication system with digital screens has been implemented to provide information on services and activities.

In addition, Núria has improved signage and safety points on the slopes, optimised its snow production system with new technology, and launched joint initiatives with the Parc Natural de les Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser, including the introduction of an “Itinerant Informer” to promote the preservation and awareness of the area’s natural heritage.

VALLTER

This season, Vallter celebrates its 50th anniversary, a historic milestone that the resort will commemorate with a full programme of activities throughout the winter, from December to April.

The celebrations will begin with a symbolic event: a torchlight descent accompanied by music and hot chocolate for everyone. The station’s history will take centre stage this season through the “50 Years Historical Tour”, a guided visit to emblematic locations that bring Vallter’s past to life.

In addition, every month visitors can listen to the official podcast “The Voices of Vallter’s 50 Years”, featuring conversations with key figures from the resort’s history reflecting on its evolution and future.

Nature and gastronomy

Among this year’s highlights are the GastroMarmotes Experiences, snow-groomer outings that combine nature and gastronomy, and the REVIU pilot project, aimed at restoring mountain areas and promoting responsible waste management.

Other improvements include the installation of a new 360º webcam at 2,535 metres, the enhancement of the access and parking regulation system, and the addition of digital information screens in restaurant areas.

Further developments include the new GastroVallter menu, improvements to the J. Pujol slope, the reinforcement of snow production, and the replacement of building roofs to improve energy efficiency. The resort is also strengthening its collaboration with the Parc Natural de les Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser and the Fundació MAP, and expanding its calendar of family and themed events.

PORT AINÉ

This season, Port Ainé unveils a renovated space at an altitude of 2,100 metres: the Clots restaurant. Open on weekends and public holidays throughout the winter season, this dining spot offers a welcoming service for visitors who wish to take a break right at the foot of the slopes. In addition, the outdoor terrace has been completely refurbished, featuring improved paving and easier access.

Renovation of the Hotel Port Ainé

The resort has also implemented several upgrades, including the installation of a new 360º panoramic webcam, the introduction of new combined packages in the online shop, and the renovation of the Hotel Port Ainé, which now features new furniture and smart TVs in all rooms. The access roads have been improved, and the snow cannons have been replaced with more efficient and sustainable models.

Furthermore, new ski and snowboard equipment has been added to the rental service, and the resort’s programme of activities and leisure options has been expanded with workshops, live music, and family-friendly events. Port Ainé also strengthens its environmental commitment through ongoing maintenance work and joint actions with the Natural Park, including awareness activities and the creation of a mural designed to reinforce the connection between the resort and its natural surroundings.

ESPOT ESQUÍ

Espot Esquí opens the new season with a strong commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. The main innovation this winter is the installation of a floating photovoltaic plant on the resort’s water reservoir — the first of its kind in a ski resort in Spain.

This pioneering system allows for the sustainable generation of electricity, while reducing water evaporation and improving the overall efficiency of the facility. With this initiative, the resort reaffirms its dedication to a responsible management model that respects and protects the natural environment.

Enhancing the visitor experience

Espot has introduced several improvements aimed at enhancing both the visitor experience and the efficiency of its facilities. Among the main updates are the new panoramic webcam at Cap del Bosc, offering a privileged view of the axial Pyrenees, and the installation of fixed slope signage to improve orientation and safety.

The resort has also renewed its snow cannons with next-generation models and launched new combined packages that integrate products and experiences from the resort.

In addition, annual maintenance and upgrade works have been carried out on slopes and infrastructure, along with collaborations with the Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici to promote sustainability and responsible tourism. The resort also expands its range of leisure and cultural activities, including local product tastings, concerts, children’s workshops, and sports competitions throughout the season.

BOÍ TAÜLL

The 2025–2026 season will be synonymous with mountain skiing at Boí Taüll. On 31 January and 1 February, the Lleida-based resort will host the Ski Mountaineering World Cup, an event that promises to be truly spectacular.

This competition is particularly significant as it serves as a prelude to the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina. The event will place Catalonia firmly on the international map of this sport, bringing together the world’s best ski mountaineers.

Enhancing safety

Among the main new developments are the construction of a new retaining wall at the station’s entrance to stabilise the slope and improve safety, reinforcement of the slopes across the ski area, and an expansion of the natural snow production system, which includes the installation of new snow fences.

Additionally, the waste collection system has been relocated outside the entrance, and the third phase of car park resurfacing has been completed to enhance accessibility.

Other improvements include the addition of new restrooms in the ski school area, new rental equipment, and the installation of two webcams providing real-time updates on slope conditions. Finally, the zip line will reopen for the entire winter season, offering even more leisure and entertainment options for all audiences.

MASELLA

Masella kicks off the 2025–26 season with a more efficient snowmaking network thanks to the renovation of the main machine room and the installation of new snow guns, allowing for energy savings and greater production of high-quality snow. The slopes have also been improved with updated signage, enhanced safety and maintenance work to help preserve the snow for longer.

The resort strengthens online purchasing as the fastest and most cost-effective way to get lift passes, adding more ticket machines to avoid queues and offering the option to book all services online, from lessons to equipment rental.

Season passes now offer greater flexibility, ski days in over 80 destinations worldwide and extra perks such as discounts, activities and special promotions. In addition, the ski workshop offers a fast Skiman service, and the rental equipment has been fully renewed with top-quality brands.

PORT DEL COMPTE

Port del Comte is getting ready in the coming days to present all the new features of the upcoming winter season and to share more information about what visitors will find this year. The resort is finalizing the details to offer an improved experience for skiers, with enhancements in services, infrastructure, and activities for all ages.

The main new developments will soon be revealed, including proposals designed to enjoy the snow with greater comfort, safety, and fun.

BAQUEIRA BERET

Baqueira Beret is preparing to welcome a new 25/26 ski season, scheduled from November 29, 2025, to April 6, 2026, weather permitting. This season stands out for a comprehensive commitment that combines technological innovation, the expansion of the ski area with five new slopes adding 2 km to the ski map, improvements in dining services, and a stronger sustainability strategy, consolidating the resort as one of the top destinations in the Pyrenees.

The main innovation this winter is the Ski Track App, a tool that accompanies skiers throughout their day at the resort. The app offers three new features: it allows users to record their runs in detail —including kilometers covered, total elevation gain, and number of descents—, view 3D routes to plan their ski day, and share their real-time location with other users. In addition, it integrates an interactive 2D map with geolocation, making it easier to navigate across the entire ski area.

NORDIC SKIING RESORTS: ARANSA, LLES DE CERDANYA, SANT JOAN DE L’ERM, TUIXENT-LA VANSA AND VIRÓS VALLFERRERA: NEW ECOTOURISM ROUTES

The Nordic skiing resorts in the Lleida Pyrenees have carried out maintenance and preparation work on their ski circuits and snowshoe routes, including reviewing signage on the slopes and circuits and repairing or replacing signposts.

This season these resorts have kicked off five ecotourism routes as an add-on to winter sports which can also be done during the rest of the year. They are marked circular routes and differentiated by theme.

Tot Nòrdic offers a season pass which allows users to ski at all the resorts in the Lleida Pyrenees: Aransa, Lles de Cerdanya, Sant Joan de l’Erm, Tavascan, Tuixent-la Vansa and Virós-Vallferrera.
